Kidney is one of the many organs present in our human body. Kidney location in the human body is near the vertebral column at the back. The main function of the kidney is separating the mineral salts and waste products from the blood. Kidneys have many crucial functions to perform in our body. The two kidneys present in our body are dark red, bean shaped organs. If you observe a kidney from both sides then one side is bulging towards outside (convex) while the other is intended(concave). The tranparent membrane that encloses the kidney is called renal capsule. This helps a person to protect him from infections. The dark inner area of the kidney is called renal medulla while the light outer area is termed as renal cortex. Kidney location in our body is responsible for filtering the blood that is entering in to the kidney and returning again to the heart through renal vein. Nephrons (microscopic structures) are the basic structures of our kidneys. Nearly 180 liters of blood passes through kidneys everyday. The blood vessels which are responsible for proper functioning of the kidneys are the integral part.The process of separating the waste products from the human body is termed as excretion. Any small damage to the kidney immediately affects the functioning of the kidney by creating problems. Each kidney is surrounded by a fatty tissues which act as shock absorbers and help them to protect from any damage. The kidneys are protected by strong muscles and ribs that are present at the back. 
Kidney location in a human body in very simple words can be explained as that they are present just above the waist. The weight of the kidney is 150 gms i.e, 0.5 % of a normal persons weight. The length of the kidney is ten to thirteen cms while the breadth of the kidney is five to 7.5cms. 
The liquids that we take in go directly in to the bowels and the extra liquid reaches the blood and then to the kidneys to leave the body in the form of urine. The kidneys work so efficiently that they clean the blood completely in less than an hour. Every person needs at least one healthy kidney for his survival. There are various diseases like Nephrosis, Lupus Nephritis, Diabetic Nephropathy, Pyelonephritis which are related to kidneys, and these need strict medication for their proper functioning. High blood pressure and diabetes are the most common factors that account for kidney failure. Medical field has improved marvelously with great treatments for all the diseases to be treated that are related to kidneys. |
